Canron

Canron was a respected name in the steel fabrication business for many years and over the years we worked on many projects with them including the Olympic Stadium but the most interesting was a 10 story building in New York that they wanted to lift 1/8” in order to mate the building and the new 10 story underground parking lot that they had built under the existing building. To make things just a little more complicated, the building was faced with marble and the concern was that the marble would fall off during the lift.

We were asked to look at the equipment selection for the lift and since the yard was in Rexdale, we were glad to help. You see, our expertise is not how to lift a building, our expertise is to show you the equipment used to lift the building and let you know how it will respond. They picked a pump that would lift the building instantly and far too fast. We simply pointed out that if they used a different pump that just happened to be sitting in the corner, it would take about 20 seconds to lift the building 1/8”. We sold Canron about $300.00 worth of accessories for that job and using equipment they already owned, they did the job successfully. The advise came without charge but not without a reward. Within two weeks, we received an order for hydraulic pumps and cylinders to be used on a different job. The order was worth over 10,000.00. To this day I believe that someone told purchasing to give us the order because we had helped with the marble faced building.
